If you’ve conquered all the hiking you can around our property there are ample stunning hikes just a short drive from Pond Hill. The Appalachian and Long Trails are just a few minutes away and both Killington and Okemo mountains have hiking trails. Here are some popular trails in the area:

Okemo Mountain, Killington, White Rocks Recreation Area, Appalachian/Long Trail

Drink

Vermont’s Lake Region, with beaches and still mountain lakes perfect for padding, is only 10 minutes away. Camp Plymouth State Park provides a great mix of relaxing beach and ample water to paddle all day. For a more secluded adventure, Lake Ninevah is just 5 minutes away. For larger boats and water skiing Lake Bomoseen is just 40 minutes from Pond Hill.

Skiing

World class alpine skiing is right around the corner. Okemo Mountain, which boasts some of the best snow making in Vermont, is 10 minutes away and “The Beast of The East” Killington is a scenic 30 minute drive. If Nordic skiing is more your speed the Viking Nordic Center and Mountain Meadows offer more than enough to keep you busy.

Cycling

Arguably some of the best road and mountain biking in New England is right out our front door.   Endless paved and gravel roads can be accessed directly from our property and world class mountain biking is just a short drive away. Both Okemo and Killington offer fat tire bike rentals so snow on the ground doesn’t mean you can’t ride. Here are some links to what’s available:

Canoeing/Kayaking

Snowmobiling

With over 4,700 miles of groomed snowmobile trails right out the door Pond Hill is paradise for snowmobilers. The VAST trail network can be accessed right off route 103. If you want a guided tour Snowmobile Vermont will show you New England wilderness on back country trails surrounded by evergreens, through the flats on wide open fields, and on ski trails.

Fishing

There are many many miles of riverbanks, streams and lakes to fish in the Okemo Valley. Kent Pond, Echo Lake and Mill River to name just a few abound with Trout, Bass, Walleye and Pike. You can also visit the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester to really get into the spirit of New England angling.

Sightseeing

Nestled in the Green Mountains you’ll find there is no shortage of interesting sightseeing near Pond Hill. The scenic Route 100 Byway is right down the road and if you’d rather have somebody else do the driving you can catch one of the Green Mountain Railroad’s scenic rides. Quechee State Park and Gorge, Calvin Coolidge Homestead and The Lincoln Family Home-Hildene are all within an hour drive.

Shopping

From the classic Vermont charm of Woodstock to the Manchester Designer Outlets you won’t run out of options for shopping. The quintessential Vermont Country Store is just 15 minutes away in Weston. A stunning 40 minute drive away is the picture perfect Grafton and MKT if you’re looking for a slightly modern take on the typical Vermont General Store.
